The Music On GreatGold Classic Hit Oldies can be considered POP ROCK, because it does fit some descriptions of the category, but it's not hip-hop, nor rap like a great deal of what is on the charts today. GreatGold songs appeared on Top 40 Charts from 1955 through the end of the 20th Century (some call it the Greatest Five Decades of Popular Music). The fact that they were on Top 40 Charts during the Rock Era makes them Popular Rock Songs, or, "POP ROCK", but, it's not that simple.

Popular Top 40 Music of the Era from which we pull songs, was a mix of different styles that reflected the variety of tastes among audience members. The songs often utilized a catchy style with light, but, sometimes heavy, lyrics, and typically were guitar-based, however, horns, strings and other instruments were sometimes part of arrangements. In general, our Great Gold Hits library ranges from a mellower form of rock, to a subgenre of pop music, to a few songs that really rock out, to entirely something else.

The Music We Play Throughout the Day and Night is mostly an upbeat variety of pop, rock, r&b, and country crossovers that we call country-pop. Artists include the Beatles, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Everly Brothers, Rod Stewart, Chicago, Peter Frampton, Jackson 5, Three Dog Night, Diana Ross, Bee Gees, Fleetwood Mac, Donna Summer, Billy Joel, Olivia Newton-John, Hall and Oates, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Air Supply, etc. Our list includes hundreds of other singers and bands, but, no hiphop or rap.
GreatGold Classic Hit Oldies is a mix of Classic Hits, Classic Rock, Classic Pop, Classic Rhythm and Blues (Sweet Soul Music), and Classic Country Crossover hits, from 1955-2000. If it was the best, we've got it, and present it only the way we can. Enjoy the Variety!
